IDC 2006

Photos| Interview with the Champion

The lDC returned to Purina Farms outside of St. Louis this year and the weather was ideal. Two teams, East and West, arrived to participate in the Finals on Saturday, October 7. Missouri Earthdogs was well represented by an all Over contingent of 18 wild and crazy terriers. Practice was held on Friday followed by a dinner on the patio at Purina Farms. The large screen behind the stage which was set up on the show fields was utilized after dinner to show a magnificent slide show presented by Cathy Carson of Carson International, the producers of the tv show, Purina DogChow's Incredible Dog Challenge. It was a chilly evening but we all anticipated the Finals on the following day. Unlike years past, the Missouri Earthdogs were allowed to participate in the Final itself, and a very confident club member Karen McAlister of Iowa, found herself in second place overall when the dust settled. Her terrier, Brady, raced extremely well at our trial in May and Karen's confidence in his ability paid off. "I've been trying to get into this race for years " a jubilant Karen said after the race. Karen drove down from Iowa early Saturday morning but Brady seemed unfazed at his early start that day. Brady's father also came along, as those of you who have multiple terriers know that sometimes it's easier to tote an extra dog along, rather than leave one at home. The Missouri Earthdogs have been privileged to help organize and participate in the Jack Russell hurdle racing event over the last nine years. Club terriers racing in the IDC qualify at our trial, the Missouri Earthodgs Memorial Day Bash, held at Purina Farms, each Memorial Day weekend. Top finishing terriers in flat and hurdle racing at the trial are invited to participate in the IDC.

The event will be televised on NBC, Sunday, January 7, 2007 at noon.

A highlight of Saturday was an on-camera interview with club members Chris Hayden, Chris Graves, Lucy Ramey and their terriers. Although this group of terriers lives in different parts of the country they are all related and they all qualified in racing at our trial in May - that's some impressive racing genes!

Results of the races are as follows:

Incredible Dog Challenge

First

Heaven "Will" B Quick

Second

Brady

Third

McCormick

Fourth

Sow's Ear Gunner

Fifth

Elwood

Sixth

The MO Earthdogs participating in the event qualified at this year’s trial, The Memorial Day Bash. They were the top finishers in selective races from the trial’s Racing competition.

A special thanks to the club’s volunteers who, once again, gave of their time and helped us orchestrate another flawless presentation:
